A little more of my favourite bloom

Yesterday I finished up a bit of sewing with my favourite Carnival Bloom fabric. This was a nursing cover and taggie blanket for a friend. I am so happy with how they turned out and just LOVE the aqua dot fabric on the back of the blankie. I still have more of this fabric and am so happy that I do. I just cannot get enough of it!

Belated Show and Tell

I don't think that I ever posted about this sling. I made it a while back when it got warm (for about 3 days this summer... then it just rained or cooled off!) and am extremely happy that I did. Somehow lugging 2 16 and 23 lb babies around all day has injured my shoulder (shocker) so Baby S has been spending an awful lot of time in the sling or Mei Tai. Thank goodness she likes it (maybe for the chew-factor as much as the cuddle-factor).
I tried to get Sweet Pea (Baby C is hardly a baby anymore) to pose for a picture, but she had far more important things to do.

They're finished!

Now that the birthday has come and gone I can post a picture of this project as it is now... finished!!!

It was a set of 4 quilted place mats for my mother-in-law. They were machine pieced and quilted and the binding was sewn by hand (well 1/2 way by hand to get technical). I love, love, love they way they turned out and also love the fact that I bought way too much fabric because my mom also loved them and mentioned that she wouldn't be upset if one or two of these made they way onto her table. I think that it might just be possible to arrange that!

52 Books :: Week 40 (Book 31)

So I'm pretty sure that I have officially given up on the hope of reading 52 books in 52 weeks... but I think that so far I have at least made a respectful effort!

I bought this book ages ago and have browsed over the pictures while drinking tea but have never really explored it like I should have. Seeing as I have a hand cramp from hand stitching the binding on this project (which I will show tomorrow) I thought I would treat myself to a tea and a book during nap time (fingers crossed that it will be a long one!).

Sewing for a 'fancy' baby girl

On Saturday Baby S attended her very first wedding (and she was so good) but she was feeling a little lukewarm about our old nursing cover. She thought that since mama and daddy were dressing up she too should also get "fancy" accessories. So I indulged the little babe and made her this.

I hadn't really had a chance to cut into any of the new fabric that I have been purchasing and it felt so good! I just love this print and think that I might need a bit more because I am thinking now of baby quilt for a sweet baby girl that might be fun to work on!

my oh my

Help, my name is Bonnie and I am addicted to fabric. My last trip to the fabric store with my enabler (my mom) has made me realize that I need to get into some sort of group. This is my 3rd fabric store binge in the last month. But let me let you in on a little secret... every trip has been to take advantage of a 40-50% off sale and I didn't pay full price for anything! I think that if I keep reminding myself of this it will be ok.

Everything shown here has already been assigned a task on the sewing 'to do' list in my head. That list just keeps getting longer and longer! I only wonder how I will ever get to it - especially when our weeks were as full as this one. But that is a question I will have to ponder later because right now I am going to crawl back into bed and try to get a few more minutes of sleep. The girls both had fevers the last few days and no one in our house was getting any sleep. This can make for a slightly cranky mama especially when she is already so sleep depraved!

I will have some finished projects to share next Monday, and a few old ones that I haven't had a chance to take photos of yet. Hopefully we will get some sun this weekend!

Golden Dragon Style

For the first time ever I made fried rice - Golden Dragon style - (almost) on my very own, and I couldn't be happier. My friend came over to give me a crash course (ahem refresher, because my first attempt crashed) in fried rice. Big deal right? If you know me (especially if you knew me 10 years ago) you will understand why this is so exciting.

Fried rice from the Golden Dragon (my friend's family restaurant) was an absolute staple in my diet when I was dancing. On Fridays Cecilia would bring me rice to school and I would often eat rice for dinner on my dance breaks during the week. Something about those bean sprouts and peas.. mmmmm! So GOOD! And I think there will also be a Cantonese chow-mein tutorial in my future too! I am so excited and so is Nick. Baby C is not quite sure what to think about all the rice that I've been giving her as she has a hard time getting it to stay on her spoon (that happens when you turn it upside down) but she loves those peas, and I love to watch her eat them!

I guess the only downside of eating my favourite dish all the time is having Baby C take a bite and immediately hand me her fork to "hap" her load it up... oh, who am I kidding? That's not a downside, it's just cute!

A new fall project

We had a wonderful, chill weekend. I knocked off a few more items on my to-do list for my course and I just might meet my deadline. I got to spend a lot of time with a great friend, and we had a lot of family time which was nice, but we were attacked by wasps every time we went outside. Nearly everyone on our street has a nest tucked somewhere under their siding or on their roofs and its making getting outside with babies less than pleasant. Baby C decided to bring the outside in... all... day... long. Oh the personality on that girl! I'm telling you, sometimes she is just too much!

I also got to fit in a bit of crafting and I just love crafting for fall. Not only is it my absolute favourite season but I get to use all of my absolute favourite colours. I was able to steal away for a few minutes to get some fabric cut for a birthday present for my mother in law. My due date* is this Friday, and so far the cutting is all that I have finished - and I don't have a free night to work on it until Thursday. Oh well, this just might be another 4:30am-6:30 am project, but I'm getting used to it and I embrace the challenge!

* Edited to add: My 'due date' is my mother in law's birthday not an actual due date! No more babies for me until at least someone can talk and sleep through the night!

For my girl

I just love long weekends, we always get so much done. This weekend was no exception. This morning I traded my 'sleep-in day' (we each get one on the weekends) for a 'sewing day' (ahem... morning) and it was so worth it. Ages ago I bought fabric to make Baby S a little blanket with ribbon tags. It sat, and sat and sat on my dresser until I finished it today. Here it is in all its glory minus the baby gook that it is currently covered in!

Baby girl approves.... she really approves. So does big sister so it looks like I will be making another one very soon! I finished a few other projects this weekend but they weren't terribly exciting so I will share them later this week when I get a bit more time.

:: Accomplishments ::

Late last week I finished these: 3 personalized baby blankets and a little kiddie pack. They were an order from the neighbour of someone I made a blanket for.

And yesterday... well yesterday was a very exciting day around here because the littlest Baby Bauman figured out that her round pudgy little body was good for something other than eating... ROLLING! Way to go baby girl!

Days like yesterday make not sleeping for 4 months (ahem... I guess 20 months would be more accurate) straight completely worth it!
